When is the application due???

The application is due February 15th at 11:59 pm. We recommend starting on the application early so you have time to develop ideas / work on a writing sample !

Why is this guide so long? Is applying difficult?

Applications, tryouts, auditions, or anything involving presenting yourself might make you nervous. It’s our job to reassure you that the application is, in fact, just a Google Form, and the people who review it are just like you—failing classes, eating at the [5C dining hall here], and running out of breath on stairs. Just take your time!

Why should I apply?

• Friends are better than morphine, according to this. Has it been peer-reviewed? We do not know!
• We are truly a 5C organization. Our editors come from all the colleges, and our writers do too.
• Writing is very low pressure. Our editing process is basically just peer feedback / proofing.
• Your work will be featured on our Instagram, our website, and is easily shared to wider audiences.
• Attendance is not mandatory. You can study abroad. You don’t have to worry about output.
• Our organization does not rely on any of the colleges for funding or support.
• We encourage all types of comedy, whether it be videos, antics, stand-up, or other forms of humor.
• We want you so bad!

What happens if I get accepted?

You’re in for life, unless you start saying very naughty things!

What happens if I don’t get accepted?

This happens fairly regularly to an undisclosed amount of applicants, so don’t take it personally. The person writing these FAQs was rejected their first time applying. When applying, find your own groove. Try to answer all the questions. Show us some comedic things you have made/can make on your own. Everybody is encouraged to apply again.

Can I cite this as a job experience?

Just about anyone is allowed to be Editor-in-chief on LinkedIn, and yes, writing is still a real profession and your experience doing it is valuable in its own right. DEI Statement
